Obituary

Sophia Brilla Witmyer,75,of Charleroi died Saturday,Oct.1,1988,at 2:25 p.m.in her home. Mrs.Witmyer was born Sept.16,1913,in Arnold City,a daughter of the late Michael and Pauline Tharta Brilla. She was a member of St.Mary Episcopal Church Women of St.Mary and the Polish National Alliance Women's Auxiliary. On June 7,1988,she and her husband,Carl E.Witmyer,who survives,celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. One brother,Michael Brilla,and five sisters,Pauline,Veronica,Bertha and Elizabeth Brilla and Mary Sloskes,are deceased. Surviving,in addition to her husband,are two sons,Carl E.Witmyer of Mapleview,Charleroi,and James S.Witmyer,at home,three daughters,Elaine Witmyer at home,Mrs.John (Evelyn) Hosa of Attleboro,Mass.,and Mrs.David (Debra) Mascara of Belle Vernon,one brother,Paul Brilla,of Fayette City,two sisters,Ann Wellington of Charleroi and Mrs.Margareet Yelanich of Fayette City,and eight grandchildren,Brock,Kelly and Lisa Witmyer of Charleroi,Daniele Witmyer at home,Joel and Megan Mascara,both of Belle Vernon,and John and Chris Ann Hosa in Massachuesetts. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home,Inc.,226 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi. There will also be a public viewing at St.Mary Episcopal Church,Sixth Street and Lookout Avenue,Charleroi,on Tuesday until 11 a.m.,the hour of services at the church when a Requiem Eucharist will be held with the Rev.Keith L.Ackerman,rector,St.Mary Episcopal Church,officiating. A Funeral Vigil will be held Monday at 8:45 p.m.in the funeral home. A Memorial Fund has been established at St.Mary Episcopal Church,Charleroi,in the name of the deceased. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home,Inc.,is in charge of arrangements.
