Obituary

Simuel S. Calloway of 643 Locust Ave., Monessen, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1986, at 3:08 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was 83. Mr. Calloway was born March 7, 1903, in Naruna, Va., a son of the late Napoleon and Lou Payne Calloway. He was the eldest of nine children. An associate member of Wayman A.M.E. Church, Monessen, he retired in 1971 from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Monessen Plant. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Rochester Calloway, Oct. 28, 1965, and by two brothers, Hezikiah, 1942, and Mike, 1934. Survivors include two sons, Samuel Wesley Calloway of Monessen and George Calloway of Victorville, Calif., two daughters, Rachael Turner of Monessen and Bessie J. Davis of Lockport, Ill., a son-in-law, Major Turner of Monessen, two brothers, B.W. Calloway of Columbus, Ohio, and Frank Calloway of Philadelphia, four sisters, Martha Younger of Alexandria, Va., and Idalia Drew, Ethel Kelly and Alberta Williams, all of Philadelphia, 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the William R. Taylor Funeral Home, 645 McMahon Ave.,Monessen. Funeral services will be held Saturday,Nov.8,1986,at 1 p.m.in Wayman A.M.E.Church,Monessen,with the Rev.Robert C.Taylor,pastor,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The William R.Taylor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
