Obituary

Shirley Mae Brown, 68, of Belle Vernon, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 7, 1937, in Monessen, the daughter of the late Paul and Barbara Ann Ross Brown. Shirley was a former resident of Pittsburgh and Monessen, later moving to Belle Vernon until going into skilled nursing facilities, Westmoreland Manor in Greensburg and Forbes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsburgh, where she resided at the time of death. Surviving are six daughters, Debra Hughes Brown, of Baldwin, Faleccia, Evette and Audra Lomax Brown, all of Pittsburgh, Bridgette Lomax Brown, of Youngwood, and Vickie Lomax Brown, of Monessen, three sons, Presley Lomax Brown, of Florida, Kevin Lomax Brown, of Pittsburgh, and Jamal Lomax Brown, 18 grandchildren, and 11 great- grandchildren, three sisters, Helen Hughes, Henrietta Brown and Sylvia Brown, all of Pittsburgh, two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Paul Brown and wife Doris, and Earl Brown and wife Shirley, all of Philadelphia, Estelle Brown, of Monessen, and Delores Brown, of Belle Vernon, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Walter L. Brown, and her loved one, Presley Hamilton Lomax, the father of her children. A memorial service for the departed soul of Shirley Brown will be held Friday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m. in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 230 Reed Ave., Monessen, with the Rev. Rueben Brown officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the BEVERLY C. DRAPER FUNERAL HOME INC., 608 Sixth St., Monessen.
