Obituary

Private funeral services were held Friday afternoon,July 16,1948 at 1:30 p.m. for Sgt.Wayne R.McVay,son of Mr.and Mrs.Charles McVay,of Monessen,who was killed in action in France on August 8,1944. He was a member of the Sixth Armored Division and was 24 years of age at the time of his death. The services were conducted by Rev.Chauncey Varner,of the Evangelical United Brethern Church and Rev.Fred M.Bennett of the First Presbyterian Church at the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Sergeant McVay is survived by his parents,two brothers,Lee and Joseph McVay,of Lynnwood,three sisters,Mrs.Paul Yeaton of Monessen,Mrs.Thomas Crawford of Perryopolis and Mrs.Frank McHarvey of Smock.
