Private funeral services were held Friday afternoon;July 16;1948 at 1:30 p.m. for Sgt.Wayne R.McVay;son of Mr.and Mrs.Charles McVay;of Monessen;who was killed in action in France on August 8;1944. He was a member of the Sixth Armored Division and was 24 years of age at the time of his death. The services were conducted by Rev.Chauncey Varner;of the Evangelical United Brethern Church and Rev.Fred M.Bennett of the First Presbyterian Church at the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Sergeant McVay is survived by his parents;two brothers;Lee and Joseph McVay;of Lynnwood;three sisters;Mrs.Paul Yeaton of Monessen;Mrs.Thomas Crawford of Perryopolis and Mrs.Frank McHarvey of Smock.
