Obituary

Sevester (Wes) Moats,Star Junction,died Monday,Sept.9,1985,at 11 a.m. at his home. He was 82. Mr.Moats was born in Doe Hill,Va.on Nov.16,1902,a son of the late Mr.and Mrs.James Moats. He was Protestant by faith. He retired from the P&LE Railroad after 42 years of service. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a son,Pfc.Melvin Moats who was killed in action in Korea on Nov.30,1950. Survivors include his wife,Mary Hutchison Moats,two sons,James Moats of Fairhope and Paul Moats of Red Acres,Charleroi R.D.,three daughters,Mrs.Phillip (Mary Katherine) Karcesky of Baltimore,Md.,Mrs.Thomas (Virginia) Matty of Star Junction,and Mrs.Benjamin (Thelma) Yates of Fayette City,11 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren,three brothrs,Robert Moats of Springfield,Va.,French Moats of Doe Hill,Va.,and Frank Moats of Dayton,Va.,and three sisters,Mrs.Fannie Starcher of Charleston,W.Va.,Mrs.Annie Hoover of Harrisonburg,Va.,and Mrs.Lucy Varner of California. Friends will be received at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.,Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday util 11 a.m.when services will be held at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Cromwell,pastor of the Little Redstone United Presbyterian Church,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
