Obituary

Sellin E. Durkin Price, 83, of 407 Baltimore St., Belle Vernon, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1993, at 8:30 p.m. in Uniontown Hospital. Born Dec. 7, 1909, in Crathers, Washington County, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Sellin Durkin. Mrs. Price was a member of St. Sebastian Church, Belle Vernon. She was a graduate of Taylorstown High School, the Washington Hospital School of Nursing and Duquesne University, and took extra credit courses at the University of Pittsburgh and California University of Pennsylvania. She taught home nursing and nurse's aides at Belle Vernon and Monessen during World War II.  She retired in 1975 as a school nurse in the Belle Vernon Area School District.   She was a charter member of the Monongahela Valley Nurses Association and Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Belle Vernon 1552, and a life member of the Belle Vernon Parent Teacher Association and the Washington Hospital Alumni Association. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association,National Education Association,Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary,Tuesday Evening Civic Club,Belle Vernon Golden Agers,Fayette City Golden Agers,St.Sebastian Ladies Guild and Rostraver AARP.  She was a retired member of the Westmoreland School Nurses Association.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,James C.Price,on Jan.30,1991;an infant daughter,Jacqueline;and three brothers, James,John and Walter Durkin.   Surviving are one son,James Frederick Price of Columbia,Md.;and two grandchildren,Andrew Patrick and David Brendan Price.  Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a Prayer service will be held Friday at 10 a.m.,followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Sebastian Church,Belle Vernon.  Internment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.
