Obituary

Samuel Stamper,85,of 452 Motheral Ave.,Monessen,died on Saturday April 7,1973,at Oakland Veterans Administration Hospital,Pittsburgh,after a short illness. He was born June 9,1887 in Chattanooga,Tenn.,son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Stamper. He lived in Monessen the past 63 years and was retired from Monessen Works of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,where he had been a wire drawer. He was a member of World War I Veterans Post No.350,Charleroi,and the Joseph H.Ford American Legion Post,Monessen. His wife,Etta Stamper,preceded him in death on November 2,1971. Surviving are one son,Robert Samuel Stamper of Indianapolis,Ind.,one granddaughter,Bobbie Jean Stamper,and the following nieces and nephews,Mrs.Harry McCraw of Monessen,Beverly C.Draper of Monessen,Deenie Draper of Inkster,Mich.,Leroy Stamper of Detroit,Mich.,Carl Payne of Monessen and Marcus Stamper of Nashville,Tenn. Friends will be received at the Draper Funeral Home,Monessen,from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Monday. American Legion will conduct services Monday at 8 p.m.at the funeral home. Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Clarence McCraw officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Beverly C.Draper,funeral director,in charge.
