Samuel Salvador Stringhill,77,of 205 Otto St.,Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township),died Sunday,Feb.8,1998,at 7:49 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. He was born Aug.2,1920,in Fayette City,a son of the late Joseph and Josephine Mazzei Stringhill. A lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area,he was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. He was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport Plant as a slitter operator. He was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II,having served as a sergeant and tank operator with the First Armored Division. He was a life member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659,where he served as past commander and past president. He was also a member of the Arden Calvert Post 167 Veterans of Foreign Wars,Charleroi,the BPO Elks Monessen Lodge 773 and a life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department. Survivors inclue his wife, Eleanor (Judy) Molek Stringhill of Belle Vernon,whom he was married to for 38 years;one son, Charles (Chuck) Stringhill of Belle Vernon;three daughters,Mrs. Robert (Melanie) Patterson and Mrs. Gregg (Valerie) Homanics,both of Belle Vernon,and Kimberly Stringhill,at home;one brother, Louis Stringhill of Belle Vernon;two sisters,Lena Mazzei and Janie Mitchell,both of Belle Vernon;and five grandchildren,Ryan,Shelby and Jacob Homanics,Maria Stringhill,and Coy Patterson. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by seven brothers,Orlando,Charles,Frank,Rudolph,James,Fred and Anthony Stringhill;and one sister, Innis Stringhill. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. A Prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funral home,followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,with the Rev. E. George Saletrik,parochial vicar,as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services Monday at 7:30 p.m. The St. Sebastian Church Legion of Mary and Catholic Daughters of the Americas will conduct services Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home and the North Belle Vernon Fire Department will conduct services Tuesay at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. The Leonnard J. Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
