Obituary

Samuel Hughes,26,of Adah,Pa.,died in Oakland Veterans Hosptal,Pittsburgh,on Friday,Aug. 3,1956,at 5 p.m. after a short illness. Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the Korean War,United States Navy. He was a member of the drill team of the Joseph H.Ford Post NO. 691,American Legion in Monessen. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Hughes;three sons,Samuel,Jr.,George Brown and James Brown,all at home;his mother,Mrs. Theofa Hughes,of Adah;five brothers,James of Philadelphia,Jerry of Monessen,Joseph of New York City and Robert and Larry,at home; five sisters,Mrs. Rose Thompson of Jamestown, N.Y.,Mrs. June Mickens,Ruth,and Mrs. Helen Smith,all at home and Mrs. Betty Simpson, of Brownsville. Friends are being received at the Draper Funeral Home,608 Sixth street, Monessen.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday,Aug. 7,at 11 a.m. from the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Monessen, with Rev. E. Archie officiating.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Beverly C. Draper,funeral director.
