Samuel C. Deter of Belle Vernon R.D. 1 died Saturday,Feb.24,1979,at 6 a.m. in Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. He was 74. Born in Rostraver Twp. on Aug. 11, 1904, he was the son of the late George W. and Lucinda Insley Deter. A lifelong resident of Rostraver Twp., Mr. Deter retired from the U S Steel Corp. Donora Works in 1962. He is survived by his stepmother, Wynona Deter of Rutherford, N.C., one brother, John B. Deter of Belle Vernon R D 1; four sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Louise ) Freeman, Mrs. Sam (Mae) Hargett, Mrs. Odus (Juliaette) Smith, all of Rutherford, N.C., and Mrs Marvin (Patricia) Willis of Gastonia, N C , several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the James C. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., in Sweeney Circle, Rostraver Twp. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday and Monday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m.in the funeral home with the Rev.Richard R.Giddens,pastor of the First Christian Church of Monessen,officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. James C.Stump is the funeral director in charge.
