Samuel A. Smith,87,of 201 Ridge Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Friday,Dec.15,1989,at 4:20 a.m. in his home. Mr. Smith was born Jan.10,1902,in Oyster Bay,Long island,N.Y.,a son of the late Samuel A. and Mary A. Cheshire Smith. Self-employed in the plumbing and heating business,he retired in 1963. Mr. Smith had been a resident of the Belle Vernon community for the past five years,having previously resided in Long island,N.Y. He was a Protestant by faith. A brother, Leroy Smith,is deceased. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Hawkins Smith;two daughters, Marilyn Hennerty of Belle Vernon and Mrs. James (Janice) Watson of Culpeper,Va.;seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be recieved Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m.in the funeral home,with the Rev. Dr. Thomas St. Clair,pastor,First United Methodist Church,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
