Obituary

Salvatore (Sam) Bitonti of 18 Johnston St., Belle Vernon, died Friday,Sept.3,1982, at 11:50 p.m. in the Mon Valley Hospital. He was 82. Mr. Bitonti was born Dec. 16,1899,in San Giovani, Italy, a son of the late Joseph and Anna Bitonti. A resident of Belle Vernon since 1921, he was a member of St. Sebastian Church. Mr. Bitonti had been a member of the former Market St. Italian Club and was a social member of the Sons of Italy. He retired In 1965 as a bricklayer foreman at the Monessen Plant of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Survivors Include his widow, Mary Speen Bitonti: four sons, Joseph, Frank and Samuel, all of Belle Vernon, and Paul of Washington. Pa., one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Anna) Adametz of Belle Vernon, one brother, Frank of Fairmont, W. Va., and nine grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Prayer service will be held on Tuesday,Sept.7,1982,at 9:30 a.m.in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian Church,Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
