Ruth Roe of Filbern Manor,West Newton,died Monday, Feb. 16,1981,at 11:45 a.m. in Jeanette Memorial Hosptial after a short illness. She was 70. Mrs. Roe was born December 6,1910 in Washington Township,Fayette County,a daughter of the late Thomas J.and Mary Lessig Hency. She was Protestant by faith. Mrs. Roe was a retired cafeteria worker for the Belle Vernon Area School District. She was preceded in death by her husband, William,in 1953; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jane Osborne and Mrs. Martha Fritz;and one brother, Thomas Hency. Survivors include two sons, Wade V. Roe of Puscaloosa,Ala.and Gene R. Roe of Monessen;two daughters, Mrs. Rita (Roe) Holt and Mrs. Donna Kraft,both of Belle Vernon;eight grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Laura Livingstone of Fayette City. Friends will be received in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.,where services will be held Friday,Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George McNeel,pastor of Brownstown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church,Fayette City R.D.1,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
