Ruth Millicernt Steen,84,of Dunlevy, died Monday, Jan. 5,004,in Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Leah Wells Steen and Ralph Mitchell Steen Sr.,she was born in Belle Vernon on Dec. 4,1919. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon. Ms. Steen retired from the accounting department at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company. Millicent was an outstanding vocalist and soloist in her church choir and many special events throughtout the Valley. She graduated from Belle Vernon High School in 1938 and had studied vocal music in Pittsburgh. She was a genteel lady who loved decorating her home,making candy and beautiful crafts. A very kind and good neighbor,she especially loved her great-niece,Susan Carroll Molish,and helped guide her dance career. She designed and made many of her costumes. Survivors include one sister, Virginia Carroll of Somerset,formerly of Charleroi;great-niece Susan Carroll Molish of Roscoe, with whom she resided during her long illness;one sister-in-law,Hope Steen of Ohio; nephews, J. Regis Carroll and wife Rosalie of Charleroi, Tom Carroll of Donora,William Richard Carroll and wife Amy of Somerset,Robert Carroll of Charleroi,Albert Steen and wife Joy of Glen Burie,MD.;great-nephews and nieces, Marcus Carroll and wife Alice of Charleroi,Scott Carroll and wife Jill of Charleroi,Michelle Carroll and Bruce Carroll of Belle Vernon, Benjamin,Nicholas,Gretta and Joseph Carroll of Somerset and several great-great- nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by three brothres, her twin, Ralph Mitchell Steen,William O. Steen and Samuel Steen; one brother-in-law,J. Regis Carroll Sr. and grandparents, Hannah Mary Patterson Steen,William Erastus Steen,Oliver Charles Wells and Mary Holloway Wells and an aunt and uncle,Marie Steen Odbert and Francis Odbert. Private visitation will be on Wednesday,Jan. 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home,Inc. and Cremation Service,a Golden Rule Member Firm,(724-929-5300),700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday witht he Rev. Richard Klein,pastor of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church,officiating. Interment,next to her parents,will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
