Ruth A. Read,of 1221 Arrowwood Dr.,Mt. Lebanon,died Wednesday,Oct. 21,1998,at home. Mrs. Read was born Sept. 29,1906,in Webster,the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Jones Whittlesey. A member of the Belle Vernon United Methodist Church,she was a long time resident of Monessen and Belle Vernon. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law,Laura and Raymond Byers of Rostraver Twp.,Ruth and Joseph Amato of Rostraver Twp.and Sandra and Gary Triebsch,with whom she made her home;one son and daughter-in-law,William J. and Laura Read of Columbus,Ohio;seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents,she was preceded n death by her husband,T. William Read,who founded the Valley First Credit Union of Monessen and three sisters. Friends will be received on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc. 1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen,where a service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. S. Miles McConnell officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rhome Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
