Obituary

Ruth A.Ferguson of 700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Saturday,July 17,1976,at 1 p.m.in West Penn Hospital,Pittsburgh. Mrs.Ferguson was 52. Born in South Brownsville on Oct.11,1923,she was a daughter of the late Andrew G.Laird and of Edith Stemberg Laird,who survives. Mrs.Ferguson was a member of the First Uunited Methodist Church of Belle Vernon and the Esther Circle of the church. She was a past president of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member and past president of the Tuesday evening Civic Club and belonged to the Charleroi Division Auxiliary of Mon Valley Hospital,Inc. In addition to her mother,she is survived by her husband,Shelby D.Ferguson,Belle Vernon funeral director,two sons,Mark A.Ferguson and Shelby D.Ferguson Jr.,at home,three daughters,Mrs.Robert (Lynn) Nattress of Reading,Mrs.Frank (Claire) Joseph of Charlotte,N.C. and Carol Virginia Ferguson,at home,one brother,Col.Paul G.Laird,(retired),Tehran,Iran,two sisters,Mrs.James (Bernadean) Vance and Mrs.Maynard (Vivian) Jesick,both of Belle Vernon,and one granddaughter,Heather Nattress. Friends are being received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.with the Rev.Charles K.Sowden of the United Methodist Church of Fredericktown officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. If friends wish,they may make memorial contributions in her name to the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. Shelby D.Ferguson is funeral director in charge.
