Russell B. Smith,84,of 406 Mutich St.,Belle Vernon,formerly of Monessen,died Tuesday,April 14,1992,in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township,after a short illness. Mr. Smith was born Nov.24,1907,in West Brownsville,a son of the late William Russell and Anna Mae Anderson Smith,former residents of Fairhope. He retired in 1969 from the Humble Oil Company,for whom he had driven tank trucks with a safe drivng record of 39 years with the company. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monessen for 62 years;the Monessen Lodge No.638,Free and Accepted Masons;and the Royal Arch Chapter No.290. Surviving are a daughter,Mrs. Arlene Smith Weitz of Belle Vernon,with whom he had made his home since January,1990,a daughter and son-in-law,Inette and David DeBruhl,of Elgin,S.C.;five grandchildren,Leah Hall of Brownsville,Gary Kramer,Susan Gaskin and David DeBruhl,all in South Carolina,and Linda Najera,in Arizona;seven great-grandchildren;one sister, Della Mae Kist,in California and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m.in the chapel of the funeral home,with the Rev. William O.Anderson,pastor of the United Methodist Church of Monessen,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The Rhome Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of the arrangements.
