Obituary

Rupert J. Marshall, 84, of Monessen, passed away Monday, June 16, 2008, in Latrobe Regional Health and Rehab Center. He was born April 1, 1924, in Hawick, Scotland, a son of the late Arthur G. and Renee McGee Marshall. He worked as a plumber for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He was a member of F&AM #638 where he was a past master, B.P.O.E #773, life member of Ukrainian Club, Firemans Club #1, all of Monessen, USS Bennington Association, where he was the founder and president, USS Block Island Reunion Association, and the Belle Vernon American Legion #659. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are daughter, Heather J. Marshall, of Monessen, son, Gordon A. and wife, Heidi L. Marshall, of Rostraver Township, numerous nieces and nephews, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Marshall. Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 1209 Grand Blvd. Monessen. Masonic services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday and the Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services 7 p.m. Wednesday, both in the funeral home. Services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Bruce Northey officiating. Entombment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of one's choice.
