Obituary

Roy Mitchell, 74, of Charleroi, Fallowfield Township, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born July 1, 1928, in Belle Vernon, a son of the late Roy S. and Bertha Mae Oliphant Mitchell. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel BOF Department of the Monessen plant and a member of the Valley Inn Sportsmen and past member of the Mon Valley Blood Association. He was preceded in death by a son, Roy R. Mitchell, and two sisters, Agnes Kulka and Florence Fagan. Surviving are his wife, Loretta Faye Nutt Mitchell, and children Robert A. Mitchell and wife Shannon of Greensburg, Loretta K. Stasicha and husband David of Charleroi, Nina Briggs and husband Ken of Charleroi, and daughter-in-law Mary Jo Mitchell of Monongahela, brothers Curtis and Donald Mitchell of Belle Vernon, Ray Mitchell of Charleroi, sisters, Esther Kistler and Dorothy Farkas, grandchildren Kenneth Jr. and James G. Briggs of Charleroi, Suzanne and Mark Stasicha of Charleroi, Cara Jo Mitchell of Monongahela, and Jennifer and Robert Mitchell of Florida, and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main Street, Fayette City, on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until 11 a.m., the hour of services in the funeral home with the Rev. Bryan Cinelli officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
