Obituary

Rose Apicella Rocchino,66,of 713 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Saturday,March 12,1994,at 2:45 p.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. Born April 13,1927,in Maiori,Italy,she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Maria Battista Apicella. Mrs.Rocchino was a resident of the Belle Vernon community for the past 43 years,37 of which she spent with her late husband operating the former Rocchino Cleaners on Broad Avenue in North Belle Vernon. She was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,and its Ladies Guild. She was also a member of Court Belle Vernon 1522 Catholic Daughters of the Americas,the Anita Garibaldi Lodge in Belle Vernon,the Ladies Auxiliary of Belle Vernon,American Legion Post 659 and the Belle Vernon Golden Age Assembly. Mrs.Rocchino was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program in Belle Vernon. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her husband,Mario Alfred Rocchino,who died Aug.9,1976. Surviving are two daughters,Mrs.John (Elaine) Posteraro of Wexford and Mrs.Tony (Lillian) Logan of Detroit,Mich.,one son and his wife,Jonathan Paul and Joanne Rocchino of Mechanicsburg,seven grandchildren,one brother,Tomaso Apicella of Agropoli,Italy,and three sisters,Mrs.Antonio (Maria) Ferliano of Nocera Terinese,Italy,and Mrs.Vittorio (Elena) Scarano and Mrs.Gianni (Giovanna) Colina,both of Maiori,Italy and an uncle and aunt,Giovanni and Elena Battista of Maiori,Italy. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home.
