Rosa Elizabeth Alton, 58, of 314 Fayette Ave., North Belle Vernon, died Thursday, June 7, 1990, at 5:55 a.m. at her home. She was born in North Charleroi July 19, 1931, a daughter of the late Stanton Alton and Elizabeth Harvey Alton, with whom she made her home. Miss Alton was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon, where she held many positions and offices including: a high school Sunday School teacher; certified lay speaker; secretary of the Administrative Board; member of the Ruth Circle; member of the Council of Ministries; past lay member of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church and also of the Pastor/Parish Relations Committee. Over the years she had also served on many committees at the district and conference levels of the United Methodist Church. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon,she was employed as the secretary/bookkeeper for the Belle Vernon Area High School for the past 31 years. Friends will be received at the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Thomas St. Clair, officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
