Romo R. Bud Nesti; 84; of Fayette Street; North Belle Vernon; died Friday; Aug. 1; 2003; in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. A son of the late Silvio and Rose Dolfi Nesti; he was born in Belle Vernon; Nov. 17; 1918. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; he was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. He was a past president; secretary; and Melvin Jones Fellow of the Belle Vernon Lions Club. He was a member and past historian of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; the VFW; where he was a past commander; the Belle Vernon Public Library Board of Directors; and the Mon Valley Refuse Authority. He was a former member of the Mon Valley Transit Authority; the North Belle Vernon Borough Council; where he served as president; the District 5 Democratic Club; where he had been chairman; and was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program for many years. He was the current community chairman for the Mon Valley United Way. He was an accomplished saxophone player and the leader of the Four Rhythm Kings and a former Townsmen. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II; he retired in 1981 after 37 years in the Irvin Works plant of U.S. Steel. Survivors include his wife; Olga F. Imperatore Nesti; with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage in April; two daughters and sons-in-law; Cynthia and George Malaga; and Pamela L. Nesti and Robert Kostella; and a granddaughter; Melissa Kostella; all of Belle Vernon; numerous nieces and nephews; and a faithful companion; his dog; Happy. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers; Silvio Cy Nesti and Irwin Beetle Nesti; and three sisters; Elsie Chalfant; Norma Winn and Evelyn Salvino. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.; a Golden Rule Member Firm; 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon (724-929-5300). A blessing service will be in the funeral home Monday at noon; followed by a funeral Mass at 12:30 p.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon. Entombment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home Sunday at 3 p.m.; led by members of St. Sebastian Parish. The members of the Belle Vernon Lions Club will meet in the funeral home Sunday to hold services at 7:30 p.m. The Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will also meet in the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. for services.
