Obituary

Robert S.Adams,83,of 113 Johnston Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Saturday,April 5,2000,at 9 a.m. at his residence. He was born April 2,1917,in Monessen,a son of the late Milton and Nellie Bly Adams. Mr. Adams was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon and was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel,Allenport plant,where he worked as a craneman in the roll shop.He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S.Army. He was a member of the Mon Valley Lowrey Organ Society,Benevelent Order of Elks Charleroi Lodge 494. He enjoyed bowling and belonged to several leagues in the Mon Valley.  Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Roberts Rousseau Maund Adams of Belle Vernon;a stepdaughter,Verona Partridge of Kennewick,Wa.; two stepsons,Robert Rousseau of Speers and Dennis Rousseau of Fredericktown,Ohio;a brother,Norman Adams of Southgate,Mich.;three sisters,Alberta Winn of Beaverton,Ore.,Helen Gandolfo of Sonora,Calif.,and Jean Hyner of Beaverton,Ore.; seven step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a son, William Adams in 1953;and by his first wife,Gertrude E. Adams in 1991. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME,family owned and operated,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon.  Prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,with the Rev. John R. Cindric,V.F.,pastor of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,officiating.  Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetey.  St. Sebastian Legion of Mary will pray the Rosary Monday at 3 p.m. and the Charleroi Benevolent Order of Elks Lodge 494 will hold services Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
