Obituary

Robert M.Neil of 803 Jane St.,Speers Hill,Charleroi,died at 12:30 p.m. on Friday,June 13,1980,in Jefferson Medical Center. He was 59. Mr.Neil was born Feb.24,1921,in Monessen,a son of the late John and Sadye Collart Neil. A former Belle Vernon resident,Mr.Neil had lived in Speers since 1955 and retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.in 1975 due to a disability. He had been an Air Force sergeant during World War II and had been a prisoner of the Japanese for 42 months. Mr.Neil was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion,V.F.W. Post 167,Charleroi,Charleroi Elks,American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor,and F.&A.M.643,Belle Vernon. Survivors include his widow,Eva Clendaniel Neil,three brothers,Clovis Neil of Dallas,Texas,John Neil of Temple City,Calif.,and Aramus Neil of Laurel,Md.,three sisters,Mrs.Pete (Rose) Gasper of Temple City,Calif.,and Mrs.Frances Riskey and Mrs.Jesse (Sadye) Myers,both of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Lee Dinsel of the First United Methodist Church,Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson is funeral director in charge.
