Obituary

Robert “Bob” L. Geary, 101, of Fallowfield Township, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Bob was born on August 11, 1922 in Point Marion, but lived most of his life in Fallowfield Township, he was the son of the late George W. and Lilian (McCann) Geary. On August 27, 1947 Bob married June C. Armbruster, who passed away in 1998. 

Bob served honorably in the United States Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Bob and his unit were deployed to liberate the Nazi German Concentration Camps established all throughout Western Europe. After serving his country, Bob worked for 42 years at the Allenport Steel Mill.

Surviving to cherish Bob’s memory; his two sons, Patrick L. Geary of Charleroi and Christopher L. (Leah) Geary of Shrewsbury, Pa., and one daughter Lynda J. Waller of Wyoming. His two sisters, Loretta Yancoskie, 93, of Fayette City and Janice Frances, 97, of Pittsburgh. Also, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And his very close friends Howard and Darlene Henninger of Claysville, Pa. and Freda Long of Washington, Pa.

The family would like to thank the staff of the OSPTA Home Care and Hospice for their gracious care of Mr. Bob Geary. Friends and family will be received from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Pa. 15022. Funeral service will be held inside the funeral home on Monday, January 29, 2024 at NOON. Interment will follow at Belle Vernon Cemetery at which time the full military funeral honors service will be conducted. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hogan-melenyzer.com.
