Robert L. James Sr.; 74; of Monessen; was called home on Sunday; June 9; 2002. He was born July 29; 1927; in Monessen; a son of the late John and Irene James. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1948; and was honorably discharged. He was retried from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel after 37 years of service. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife; Virginia Peerman James. Survivors include one son; Robert L. James Jr. of Pittsburgh; one daughter and son-in-law; Janee Carol and William Drakeford of Abington; Md.; one sister; Donna Allen of Clairton; three brothers; John (Sammy) James of Monessen; Richard James of Donora; and Jerry James of Rochester; N.Y.; two grandchildren; Colin and Casey Drakeford; two godchildren; Carla Rone Crenshaw and Carlton Rone; as well as numerous cousins; nephews; nieces and friends. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to p.m. in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church; 230 Reed Ave.; Monessen; where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jack A. Howell officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. BEVERLY C.
