Obituary

Robert I. Peters Sr.,64,of 12 James St.,Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,Dec. 31,1991, at 1:50 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born July 26,1927,in Fairhope, a son of the late George T. and Elizabeth Anderson Peters. Mr. Peters spent most of his life in the Belle Vernon area.  He retired in 1987 from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Monessen Plant,where he worked for the Monessen Southwestern Railroad.  He was also a former employee of the Donora Southern Railroad.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by two brothers,Charles and George Peters. Survivors include his wife, Joan Sterner Peters; one son and daughter-in-law,Robert I. Jr. and Shelly Peters of Belle Vernon; four daughters, Mrs. William T. (Suzanne) Pawluk of Charleroi,Mrs. Thomas (Sharon) Gola of Coal Center,Karen Tyrpin and Mrs. James (Bobbi) Monack,both of Belle Vernon; one sister,Mrs. Charles (Ida Mae) Holet of Monessen; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald A. Scharr, pastor of the First Baptist Church,Belle Vernon,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,is in charge of the arrangements.
