Robert H. Ick Schmidt;88;of 218 Main St.;Belle Vernon;died Friday;Sept.3;1993;at 2:29 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. Born May 2;1905;in Bradford;he was the son of the late Rudolph and Margaret Durst Schmidt. Mr.Schmidt was a member of First United Methodist Church;Belle Vernon. He was a former member of the Belle Vernon Area School Board;was former president of Belle Vernon Borough Council;a former member of the Water Authority of Belle Vernon and a life member of Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department No.2. He retired in 1971 from the Pennsylvania Highway Department. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by two brothers;Rudolph and William Schmidt. Surviving are his wife;Ruth Branch Schmidt;a son;William R.Schmidt of Charleroi R.D.2;two grandsons;Todd and Brett Schmidt of Charleroi;and a great-granddaughter;Ashley Schmidt. There will be no public visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.in the chapel at Belle Vernon Cemetery with the Rev.Dr.Thomas St.Clair;pastor of First United Methodist Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;Belle Vernon.
