Robert G. "Bob" Ryncosky, a longtime resident of Jeannette, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2014, in Belle Vernon. He was a wonderful, dedicated husband, loving father and loyal friend. Bob was born July 17, 1924, in Derry, to George Ryncosky and Thelma Herminzek. The family moved to Latrobe, where he graduated from Latrobe High School in 1942 and subsequently, was employed at Acme Die and Machine Co. In 1943, Bob joined the Army Air Corps and completed pilot training. In 1944, he was deployed with the 9th Air Force, flying C-47',s in Central Europe during World War II. Honorably discharged in 1945, he returned home to work in Jeannette at the Elliott Co. as a mechanical designer. It was at the Elliott Co. he met Mary Frances "Billie" Younkin, who became the love of his life. They married Feb. 11, 1949, and enjoyed more than 65 years together, never leaving each others side. They made their home in Jeannette, where they raised three daughters. Bob served on the Penn Township Zoning Committee and was instrumental in forming the Grandview Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bob is survived by his wife, Billie, children, Linda and her husband, Jan, and their children, Jon and Katie, from Alamogordo, N.M., Sherry and her husband, Tom, and their children, April and Heather, from Jeannette, and Brenda and her husband, Joe, and their son, Joey, from Belle Vernon, and six great-grandchildren, Jaquie, Katie, Dustin, Savhannah, Dominic and Cameron. A viewing will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, 201 N. First St, Jeannette. The Jeannette Combined Veterans will hold a service at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the funeral home. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:45 a.m. at the Belle Vernon Cemetery in Belle Vernon. In lieu of flowers, the family that requests contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
