Obituary

Robert Floyd Hopton,54,of 930 Fayette Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Monday,March 12,1973,at 9 p.m.in Allegheny General Hospital. Mr.Hopton,who would bave been 55,today,was the owner and operator of Econ-O-Wash automatic laundries in Belle Vernon,Roscoe and Dunbar. He was born March 13,1918,in Charleroi,and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon. His Masonic affiliations included the Gavel Lodge No.273 of Union,N.J.,Scottish Rite bodies of Pittsburgh,deputy at Syria Temple,Pittsburgh and Mon Valley Caravan No.17. He also belonged to Elks Lodge No.494 of Charleroi and the United Charleroi Hunting Club. Surviving are his widow,Gail Hancock Hopton,one daughter,Linda Gail,at home,one son,Robert Hopton Jr.of Miami,Fla.,one grandson,Michael Hopton,his parents,Mr.and Mrs.Fred Combs of California,Pa.,and a sister,Edna McElwain of Union,N.J. Friends are being received at the Toner and Essey Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,beginning at 2 p.m.Wednesday. Visiting hours will be 2 to 5 and 7 to 10. Memorial services will be held Thursday at 8 p.m.at the funeral home with Dr.S.Authur Talman of First Presbyterian Church,Belle Vernon and Pastor Gary Brown of Trinity Lutheran Church,Donora,officiating. Burial will take place Friday at 11 a.m. Harold R.Toner and Gerald R.Essey funeral directors.
