Robert F. Semancik; 63; of Carnegie; died Sunday; Dec. 8; 2013; at the University of North Carolina Hospitals; Chapel Hill; from a fatal injury incurred from a fall. He was happy with life and family and friends; a loving husband; father and grandfather. He died peacefully with his loving family surrounding him. As a continuation of his loving and giving spirit; Robert’s final act of kindness in his life was to become an organ donor. Born Aug. 14; 1950; in Charleroi; he lived in Belle Vernon many of his years. Devout in his faith; he was a long-standing member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and recently St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church; Bridgeville. He attended St. Sebastian School and Belle Vernon Area High School. He served in the Army and later in the Army Reserves. Robert started his career in mine safety with Republic Steel; then oversaw safety for highway construction and finally retired from the Port Authority of Allegheny County. He was happiest spending many relaxing days with his family and young grandchildren; Gabriel and Nathaniel. His gentle; friendly ways endeared many to his circle of friends throughout his life. A great lover of the outdoors; he enjoyed hiking; biking and kayaking in Western Pennsylvania and was happy to tee off for a round or two; and often share his wit and storytelling over the grill at his home. Always dedicated to hearth and home; he lived for many years in Rostraver Township where he organized family reunions at Cedar Creek Park. He was the son of the late Michael P. and Julia Semancik; and is survived by his wife; Cindy Sebrosky Semancik; three daughters and sons- in-law; Amy and Carlos Diaz; of Suwanee; Ga.; Allison Semancik and Ian Tacher; of Miami; Fla.; and Rachel Semancik; of Duluth; Ga.; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Patricia and Siegfried Troeger; of Guatemala City; and Maryann and Wayne Davis; of Los Angeles; Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother; Michael P. Semancik. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME and CREMATIONS; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon; 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home; followed by a funeral Mass to celebrate his life at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; with Monsignor Roger A. Statnick; pastor; as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Robert Semancik at 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
