Robert E. O’Leary; 79; of North Belle Vernon; died Wednesday; June 19; 2002; at the Residence at Hilltop; Carroll Township. A son of the late Frank and Anna B. Koslosky O’Leary; he was born Dec. 19; 1922; in Belle Vernon. Mr. O’Leary was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon; where he served as an usher for 50 years during the 8 a.m. Sunday Mass; a past president and current member of the Belle Vernon Area Rotary Club; a life member of the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department; and currently served as president of the board of the Belle Vernon Cemetery Association. He was also a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and Belle Vernon VFW Post 699. He lived most of his adult life in Belle Vernon; held a current Pennsylvania Funeral Directors license and had worked for years at the former Charles Melenyzer Funeral Home and the current Ferguson Funeral Home Inc. in Belle Vernon. Mr. O’Leary started in business with a service station in Carroll Township; owned and operated a DeSoto dealership in Belle Vernon; the O’Leary Motors; a Ford dealership in Monessen from 1957-1969; and was the general manager for the former Vizza Motors for many years. He served as a quartermaster; 2nd class with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Rosemary and Thomas (Tracy) Rutland of Atlanta; Ga.; one sister; Marie Grabania of Belle Vernon; and one sister-in-law; Mary Lou O’Leary of Greensburg. In addition to his parents; Mr. O’Leary was preceded in death by his wife; Sarah Renstrom O’Leary; and one son; Robert E. O’Leary Jr.; both in 1992; and one brother; Dr. Eugene F. O’Leary in 1998. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.; a Golden Rule Member Firm; 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home Saturday; June 22; at 10 a.m.; followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Sebastian R.C. Church at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. John Cindric; VF; as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department will meet at the funeral home Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for services. The rosary will be prayed in the funera1 home on Friday at 3 p.m.; led by members of St. Sebastian Parish; and the Belle Vernon Area Rotary Club will meet to hold services at 7 p.m.; followed by Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 services at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers; the family suggests donations to the North Belle Vernon Fire Department Building Fund.
