Robert C.Smith Sr.;215 Second St.;Monessen;died Monday;March 24;1986;in Mon Valley Hospital. He was 85. Mr.Smith was born in Johnstown on Jan.8;1901;a son of the late Charles and Josephine Smith. A resident of Monessen most of his life;he was employed as a craneman in the blooming mill electric department of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.in Monessen before his retirement April 30;1968. He was a member of St.Leonard Roman Catholic Church;Monessen. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by two brothers;Harry and William;and two sisters;Claire Pritchard and Rose McDermott. Survivors include his wife;Margaret Kelly Smith;three sons;Robert C.Jr.;of Buffalo;N.Y.;Alfred E.Sr.of West Elizabeth;and Theodore of Upper St.Clair;14 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Stephen D.Yoney Jr.Funeral Home;First St. and Schoonmaker Ave.;Monessen;on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m.with Father Patrick J.O’Conner officiating.
