Robert Barr Bauer Jr., 92, of Dawson, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 18, 2017, at his residence. Bob was born May 26, 1925, at Fairhope, near North Belle Vernon, a son of the late Robert Barr and Margaret (Morgan) Bauer, who passed away in 1947 and 1985, respectively. Bob was an historian, a true "student of history," who enjoyed his flowers, yard work, and making unique Christmas decorations and wreaths for his family. He built model cars, HO train layouts, planes, had a talent for refinishing, played music by ear, and was an avid sports car, Indy car, and Formula One racing fan. A graduate of Connellsville Area High School, Class of 1943, he was employed for many years as a clerk with the P&LE Railroad, retiring in 1987. Bob was a member of the Phillip G. Cochran Memorial United Methodist Church in Dawson and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1943-46 during WWII. Bob will be sadly missed by his loving family: His sister, Betty (Bauer) Husband of Dawson; his sister-in-law, Angelica Bauer of Hagerstown, Md.; his nieces, Peggy Cochran and husband John of Atlanta, Ga., Brenda Husband of Dawson, and Mary Anne Bauer of Hagerstown, Md.; his nephews, Richard Husband and wife Barb of Dawson, Thomas Bauer and wife Nancy of Lorraine, Ohio, and James Holiday of Somerset; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Frank (1929), William (1987), and Ernest (1987) Bauer; his two sisters, Doris Frost (2012) and Margaret McCoy (2013); his nephew, Benny Husband III; his niece, Janice Holiday; a great-nephew, Rod Holiday; and his special dachshunds, Attila, Maximillian, and Caterina.Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the Ralph E.
