Obituary

Robert A. Pireaux, 73, of Fallowfield Township, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, in his home following a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Charleroi, a son of the late Amil and Ethel Bizet Pireaux. He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church of Fallowfield Township. Mr. Pireaux was a 1950 graduate of Charleroi High School, where he was an all-star guard on the football team. He was inducted into the Charleroi High School Hall of Fame in 1988. Mr. Pireaux was retired as a structural ironworker with Ironworkers Local 3 of Pittsburgh. He was a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees during the Korean Conflict, serving mostly in the Aleutian Islands and the Philippines. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Raisbeck Pireaux, two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Gary Kossol of Eugene, Ore., and Dana and Jack Cole of Fallowfield Township, five grandchildren, Ryan, Sean and Erin Kossol and Monica and Rachel Cole, his mother-in-law, Margaret Raisbeck of Fallowfield Township, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marlene and Tom Bert of Independence, Mo., and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Bobette, in 1953, his father-in-law, Arthur Raisbeck, in 1984, and one brother, Richard Pireaux, in 2001. Friends will be received in the CARL T. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, May 14, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Edwards and the Rev. Glenn Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
