Obituary

Robert A Peffer, 82, of North Charleroi, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born April 11, 1921, in Calumet, a son of the late Robert and Olive Howard Peffer. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Peffer was a member of the First United Methodist Church and VFW Post 167, both of Charleroi. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant. Survivors include his wife, Mary Labosh Karbowsky Peffer, one step son, Michael Karbowsky and wife Tammy of North Huntingdon, three step daughters, Susan Rousseau and husband Robert of Speers Hill, Sandra Gable and husband James of Uniontown, and Sylvia Stephan and husband Thomas of Speers Hill, seven step grandchildren, one step great-grandson, one sister, Gail Schomer of Connellsville, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Peffer was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Shipley Peffer, on Nov. 21, 1983, one son, Robert Peffer, two brothers, Jesse and William Peffer, and two sisters, Mary Belle Kuzmech and Shirley Dillon. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Northey officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
