Richard Smith,82,of 1015 Highland Ave.,Monessen,died Tuesday, Oct. 18,1966 at 4:45 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Smith had lived in Monessen three years. Formerly he was a resident of Washington,Pa. He was a retired coal miner from Ontario Mine at Bentleyville. Mr. Smith was born at Gaffney,S.C. on Nov.22,1883. Surviving are his widow, Hazel;five daughters, Mrs. Winnona Saxon of New York, Mrs. Alice Payne of Monessen,Mrs. Thelma Lee,Mrs. Claudia Jackson and Mrs. Lemell Clark, all of New York City;three sons, Robert and George of Erie and Timothy of Denmark,S.C.;two sisters,Mrs. Bessie Smith of New York and Mrs. Ida Lipecomb of Gaffney,S.C.;a brother, Marcus Smith of Richmond,Va.,fifteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends are being received at the Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home,Monessen. Service at the funeral home chapel Friday,Oct. 21,at 11 a.m. with the Rev. A.C. Morris,pastor of Belle Vernon's Anticoh Baptist Church,officiating. Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Beverly C. Draper is the funeral director.
