Junior Richard Radish;aged two years and five months;was drowned about 11:30 o’clock Wednesday morning;Sept.11;1940;when he fell from a diving board into six feet of water in the Monongahela River. Richard and another boy;Johnny Veach;5;were believed playing on the diving board which extends about 10 feet over the water;when Richard fell into the water. West Brownsville firemen found the body after 20 minutes of dragging. Artificial respiration was futile. The body was removed to the Timko funeral home;California;and later taken to the family residence in West Brownsville.The child’s father was working in the Chartiers mine when the tragedy occurred. The distraught mother is under the care of a physician. Surviving are the parents;Peter and Ethel Irene Radish;of West Brownsville;and one brother;Joseph Arnold Radish.
