Obituary

Richard G. Matway, 72, of Craven Hill (Charleroi) and Palm Beach, FL, died Monday, April 3, 2006. A son of the late John E. and Anna Bobko Matway, he was born in Perryopolis on August 26, 1933. He was a member of St. Edwards Roman Catholic Church of Palm Beach, FL and Mary, Mother of the Church of Charleroi. An avid snow skier and boater, he was a former auto dealer in R.E.M. Ford, Inc., Matway Chevrolet, Inc., Matway Ford, Matway Chrysler Plymouth Dodge Subaru and Matway Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile and GMC. Survivors include his wife, Julia 'Jaye' Girhing Matway, two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jerry Overton of Palm Beach, FL and Lori and Ross Rao of Peters Twp., two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Victoria Matway of Plainfield, IL and Ryan and Mary Matway of Palm Beach, FL, one sister, Eleanor Burke of Perryopolis and one brother, Edward J. Matway of Greensburg and five grandchildren, Alexandra Matway, Olivia Matway, Richard Eric Matway, John Ross Rao and Richard Andrew Rao Friends will be received Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. in the Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Service, www.fergusonfuneralhome.net, a Golden Rule Member Firm, (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. Family and friends will gather in the funeral home on Thursday at 9:15 A.M. and proceed to Mary, Mother of the Church for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mon Valley Hospital.
