Richard B. (Dick) Wiant, 69, of N. Belle Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in his home. A son of the late Richard W. Wiant and Mary Lou (Smedley) Wiant Bashada, he was born in Pittsburgh on October 24, 1955. He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Debbie Lynn.
A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Dick was a retail sales associate throughout his career. Most recently, he worked at Best Buy for over 10 years before retiring in 2021. He loved watching sports with his family, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Belle Vernon Area Leopards football, and Saint Vincent College Bearcats football. He had a passion for music and film, collecting countless albums and movies and was an avid concert goer. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and making his grandchildren laugh with fun and witty songs. He created many memories for everyone around him through his love of music.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sheri (Lynn) Wiant, and a son and daughter-in-law, Jamason and Alia Wiant of N. Belle Vernon. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Hailey (Willie) McKeen, Hannah (Brian) Perry, Reiley Wiant, Emma, Liv, Caleb, and Chloe Horner, and two great grandchildren, Charlie McKeen and Josie Perry, who lovingly called him “Pop”. He was “Uncle” to Rachael Lynn and Heidi Lynn and numerous nieces and nephews, with whom he had many fun escapades. Additional survivors include his sister, Michelle McCormick of Seven Fields, brother, Doug (Sharon) Wiant of Penn Township, and sister-in-law, Pam (Craig) Ambrose of N. Belle Vernon.
