Obituary

The Rev. William M. Wojciechowski,42,pastor of St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Woonsocket,Mass.,died Monday,March 4,1996,in Massachusetts General Hospital,Boston,following a lengthy illness. Born Sept. 9,1953,in Springfield,Ohio,he was the son of Stanley and Donna Ann Routzahn Wojciechowski of Canton, Ohio,who survive. Rev. Wojciechowski was ordained May 17,1981,in Parma,Ohio,and served in parishes in Cleveland,Detroit and Pennyslvania before moving to Woonsocket in 1990.  He had been active as a pastoral counselor and religious educator and also was assistant director of the Eastern Orthodox Foundation in Indiana,Pa. He studied at Mount St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati;St. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Pittsburgh;Duns Scotus College Seminary in Southfield,Mich.;and the University of Akron in Ohio,where he earned a Master of Divinity degree.  A conservatory-trained musician, Rev. Wojciechowski played the French horn and viola with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Civic Orchestra,the Oakland (Mich.) Symphony Orchestra,the Akron University Orchestra and,most recently, with the Rhode Island College Symphony Orchestra and the American Band.  He also thaught French horn at the Music Nook in Milford, Mass. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a chaplain and attaining the rank of lieutenant. Rev. Wojciechowski was active in local and state concerns,including Connecting for Children and Families,the Friends of Woonsocket Harris Public Library,the Save Our Stadium Committe,the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts,the Rhode Island Fellowship of Orthodox Churches and the State council of Churches.  He is survived, in addition to his parents,by his wife,Sue Ellen Skapura Wojciechowski;three sons, Nikolai,Kyprian and Joseph Wojciechowski,all at home;and s sister, Kathleen Baringer of Canton, Ohio. Friends will be received Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church,Mary Street, Belle Vernon. A service will be held Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the church.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. John Kluchko,pastor,officiating.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Arrangements are being handled by the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,Belle Vernon.
