Obituary

Rebecca Speers Robbins, 76, of Speers Hill, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, in Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Alden and Katherine Bonsch Speers, she was born in Detroit, Mich., on Oct. 8, 1928. She was a member of the Speers United Methodist Church, the Speers Civic Club, the Charleroi Elementary PTA and the Goodwill Club of Charleroi. A resident of Speers for over 68 years, she was an operator for 21 years for the former Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1983. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Ken Kibler and Cindy and Tom Sukel, all of Fallowfield Township, one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey W. and Patsy Robbins, of Chesapeake, Va., one sister, Gertrude Elaine Baldwin, of Akron, Ohio, eight grandchildren, Michael, David and Brian Robbins, Kenny and Kelly Kibler, Sammy Stockton, and Jillian and Maggie Sukel, two sisters-in-law, Betty Speers, of Streetsboro, Ohio, and Martha Smith, of Daisytown, and one brother-in-law, Lee Robbins, of Quinlan, Texas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Red Robbins, in 1997, and two brothers, James and Van Alden Speers Sr. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, a Golden Rule Member Firm, 724-929-5300, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 16, at noon with the Rev. William Hastings officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
