Raymond Swearer,80,of 138 Lynnwood Ave.,Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township),died Saturday, May 6,2000,at 7:20 p.m. at Country Care Manor, Washington Township. Born Aug. 31,1919, in Rostraver Township,he was a son of the late Harry and Georgiana Robson Swearer. Mr. Swearer had reisded in Rostraver Township for the past 58 years and was a member of Lynnwood Lutheran Church. Mr. Swearer was a retired owner/operator of Ray's Auto Service Center in North Belle Vernon. He had served the community for over 60 years in the auto service and repair business. He had occupied the present location at 903 Broad Avenue from 1967 up to his retirement in the early 1980s. He had previously owned and operated the Pennzoil Service Station at the corner of Broad and Fayette Avenue prior to moving to the center's location. He was a veteran of World War II,where he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force as an airplane and engine mechanic. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. Survivors include his wife, Marian Boyce Swearer of Rostraver Township, to whom he would have been married 58 years on Aug. 15,2000;a son and daughter-in-law,David and Christine Swearer of Belle Vernon; a brother and sister-in-law,Keith and Edna Swearer of Lynnwood; and a grandson and his wife, Joshua and Amanda Swearer of Rostraver Township. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home,with the Rev. Donald Chudd,pastor of Lynnwood Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
