Obituary

Raymond E. Shettery Jr., 54, of Vanderbilt R.D.1, formerly of Monessen, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 1994, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 24. 1939, in Belle Vernon, he was the son of Bertha Walker Shetterly, who survives, and the late Raymond E. Shetterly Sr. Mr. Shetterly had been employed as an engineer on the Monessen-Southwestern Railroad prior to his retirement in 1982. He was Protestant by faith. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers and the United Transportation Union. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elverda Shetterly Radek. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Gayle Isaho Shetterly, two daughters, Dawn Pierce of Monessen and Michelle Shetterly, at home, three sons, Ray Shetterly in Kansas, Craig Shetterly of Monessen and Shawn Shetterly at home, four grandsons, Ryan, David, Raymond and Mark John, one brother and sister-in-law, Duncan and Susie Shetterly of Newton Falls, Ohio, and one sister and brother-in-law, La Verne and Bart Meyers of Lucas, Ohio. Friends willl be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev.Charles L.Barber,pastor of St.Luke Lutheran Church,Monessen,officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Rhome Funeral home Inc.
