Raymond E. Purks of 267 Stoystown Rd.;Somerset;Pa.;died Sunday;March 22;1987;at 5 a.m. in his home. He was 69. Mr.Purks was born Sept.20;1917;in Charleroi;a son of the late Andrew and Frances Brunell Purks. He was employed at the former Page Steel & Wire Division of American Chain & Cable Company prior to his moving to Somerset in 1973. Mr.Purks was very active for many years in a variety of Mon Valley programs for the Boy Scouts of America. He attended the First Christian Church of Monessen. In addition to his parents;Mr.Purks was preceed in death by a brother Andrew Purks and by two sisters;Margaret Medved and Jeane. Surviving are his wife;Ferne Braddock Purks;one son;Raymond Guy Parks;of Oakland;Calif.;one daughter;Ferne L.Gush of California;Pa.;three grandchildren;Mark;Ferne and Shane;and one sister;Mrs.Merv (Dorothy) Miller;of Lancaster;PA. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Rhome Funeral Home;1209 Grand Blvd.;Monessen. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home;with the Rev.Conrad G.Amel Jr.;pastor;First Christian Church;Monessen;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery;Belle Vernon. The Rhome Funeral Home;Inc.;is in charge of arrangements.
