Obituary

Raymond Hopton,aged 52 years,Evergreen Road, Detroit, Mich.,died suddenly Wednesday,Aug. 27,1952,at 4 p.m. of a heart attack. Born in Twilight,the deceased had lived in Monessen for 30 years prior to movng to Detroit in 1942.  While in Monessen he was employed in the open hearth department of the Pittsburgh Steel Co. Plant. He was a former member of Monessen's Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ann Sterbenz Hopton; a daughter, Mrs. Norma Jean Lender of West Newton;a son, Harold Hopton of San Francisco. Calif.; two step-children,Lorna and Louis Martina,both at home; two brothers, Ernest of Detroit and Alvin in Wales,Australia; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Sonkoly of Dearborn,Mich. and three grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Check Home for Funerals,100 Schoonmaker avenue, beginning Saturday evening,Aug. 30.  Services will be held there Monday,September 1,1952,at 1 p.m. in charge of Rev. Allan J. Howes.  Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Joseph R. Check is the funeral director.
