Obituary

Raymond A. Cerniga, 52, of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township), died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, in Select Specialty Hospital of McKeesport. Born July 28, 1956, in McKeesport, he was the son of Anna (Vlad) Cerniga, of North Huntingdon Township, and the late Joseph Cerniga. A resident of Rostraver Township for the past 20 years, Mr. Cerniga was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon. He was employed as a general sales manager at C. Harper Autoplex in Belle Vernon, and he also worked part time at Latorre's Auto Sales. Mr. Cerniga was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Monica (DiBattista) Cerniga, a daughter, Deidre Cerniga, of Pittsburgh, a son Kristofer Cerniga, at home, one brother and sister-in- law, Bruce P. and Anna Cerniga, of Florida, two sisters and brothers-in- law, Paula and Dennis Juett and Collette and George Heid, all from the state of California, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Cerniga. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A prayer service will be held Friday, Nov. 7, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Raymond Cerniga on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
