Ray Smith;65;of 1540 Leeds Ave.;Monessen;died Saturday;May 22;1976;at 5 p.m.in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Monessen on March 18;1911;son of the late William and Jean Ferguson Smith. Mr.Smith was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II and retired in 1968 from the open hearth department of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He is survived by his widow;Helen Minkovich Smith;two stepdaughters;Mrs.Willaim Hempel and Mrs.Ernie Hall;both of Oxen Hall;Md.;and two sisters;Mrs.Andrew Dyky of Monessen and Mrs.Keith Moller of Charleroi R.D. Friends are being received at the Ed Melenyzer Funeral Home;Monessen;from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Monday. Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.at the funeral home with the Rev.Fred Doscher of the First Presbyterian Church;Monessen;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Ed Melenyzer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
