On Friday; June 5; 2009; Ray O. (Bussy) Parker Sr.; 68; of Arnold City; died at Monongahela Valley Hospital after a brief illness. Born on May 26; 1941; in Lemont Furnace; he was the son of the late Rose and William Parker. He attended North Union Township public school and graduated from North Union High School in 1969. Ray entered the workforce at a local drug store before starting a 36-year-long career in the steel industry at U.S. Steel Clairton Works until his retirement in 2006. He was employed by Beverly Draper Funeral Home and was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge No. 697 in Monessen. In addition to his parents; Ray was preceded in death by two brothers; Ed and Frank Parker; and one sister; Mary Tom Shellar. Ray is survived by his wife of 45 years; Sonia Parker; three sons; Philip (MaryBeth) Parker of Smyma; D. Ray Parker Jr. of Belle Vernon; and Richard (Daneen) Parker of McKeesport; three brothers; Warren (Marvella) Parker of Hesteria; Calif.; Zernie (Georgiamae) Parker of Uniontown and Milton (Mary Ann) Parker of Oliphant Furnace; two sisters; Liz (Bill) Pollard of Coraopolis and Michelle Woody of Brooklyn; N.Y.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a special companion; Telesa Clark of Monessen; and a host of nieces; nephews; lodge members; other relatives and friends. Family and friends will be received Wednesday; June 10; from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; in First Christian Church; Route 51; Wickhaven. In addition; a Elks service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. An additional viewing will be held in the church on Thursday; June 11; from 10 to 11 a.m.; the hour of service with District Elder Jacalyn R.
