Believed to be Fayette City's oldest resident,Mrs.Rachel Jane Schock,aged 87 years,died at the home of her daughter,Mrs.Jennie Axton,in Fairhope,Wednesday morning,April 8,1931,at 11:45 o'clock,following a stroke and complications incident of advanced years. Mrs.Schock was the widow of the late Jacob Schock,Civil War veteran,who died fifty-five years ago,and the daughter of the late Samuel and Jane Farquhar Morris,pioneer settlers of the district. She was born in Franklin Township,Fayette County,October 15,1844. Three months ago at her home in Fayette City,Mrs.Schock was stricken with illness and was removed to her daughter's home in Fairhope. She is survived by two sons,James Schock of Clarksburg,W.Va.,Jacob Schock,of Sistersville,W.Va. and one daughter,Mrs.Jennie Axton,of Fairhope. Thirty grandchildren and sixty-five great-grandchildren also survive. A daughter,Mrs.Annie Anderson,of Roscoe,preceded her in death five years ago. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m.,from her daughter's home in Fairhope. Interment will take place in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
